Dr. Mortenson opened his Bozeman dental practice in 1990. He grew up in Golden, CO and graduated with a dental surgery degree from the University of Nebraska. He has trained in sedation dentistry while focusing on his specialty of cosmetic and aesthetic surgery.

He became interested in dentistry as a result of his mother’s recognition of his abilities with his hands and his passion for helping others. He moved the practice to its current location in 2000 and expanded to Bozeman Dental Associates in 2013.

When he’s not attending to patients, Dr. Mortenson has 8 children. He also enjoys hunting and fishing. Dean and his lovely wife, Melea, also have many grandchildren, keeping them busy.

Dr. Lyons joined our team in 2013 after moving from Georgia. He grew up in Jesup, GA but has claimed Montana as a second home during his childhood. His family frequently visited the state and Dr. Lyons spent several summers as a fishing guide.

He received a Doctorate from the Medical College of Georgia followed by a one-year GPR residency where he refined his surgical techniques. Dr. Lyons also achieved certification in conscious sedation while in Georgia. He regularly attends continuing education courses to stay up to date with the latest techniques and technology.

Outside the office, Dr. Lyons enjoys fly fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Montana Dental Association, Blue Ribbon Study Club, Big Sky Tanner Study Club, and Yellowstone Gold Study Club. He and his wife have a son, Winn, and daughter, Kaylee. He also enjoys spending time with his Drahthaar dog, Sadie.

Dr. Cerven is a current member of the American Dental Association and the Montana Dental Association. She also believes in further education and has been a part of Spears Study Clubs and is certified in Botox treatment through the American Academy of Facial Esthetics.. Dr. Cerven has traveled several times overseas to Haiti, Uganda, and the Philippines to provide dental care for those in need and has plans to return again.

Quality dental care and patient communication is of utmost importance to Dr. Cerven. She puts her patients first and cares about their overall health.

When not at the office, Dr. Cerven spends time with her husband, Martin, and their son, Brayden. Duke, their Bernese Mountain Dog fur baby, keeps them all on their toes!

Kelly joined Bozeman Dental in 2008, moving to Montana from Florida for the quality of life. Her career began in a periodontal office as an assistant. Kelly received her BS in Dental Hygiene from Indian River College and is a certified laser therapist. When she’s not in the office, Kelly enjoys spending time with family, chasing her kids, skiing, and other outdoor activities.

Caroline was born and raised in Bozeman and joined our team as a Dental Hygienist in 2013 after graduating from Des Moines Area Community College in Iowa. Her desire to be a Dental Hygienist originated years ago as a patient at Bozeman Dental when Dr. Mortenson suggested that it would be a good career choice. She took his advice and loves her decision. She is certified to administer local anesthetic and works hard to put patients at ease. Outside the office, Caroline enjoys spending time with her husband and four children, doing outdoor activities, painting and projects.

Mandi, along with her family, moved to Bozeman in 2014 and has been with our office since then. Mandi loves all things dental and tries hard to make each patient’s dental experience a great one! Outside of the office, Mandi is involved with her church and loves spending time with friends and family, whether it be on the water or ski hill.

Chelsie is a true Bozemanite, born and raised right here in Bozeman. She left Montana for 3 years to get her degree and came right back. Some things she enjoys are boating, camping, and being a fur momma. She has always loved going to the dentist and that is her goal for each person she sees. She does her best to make her patient’s dental visit a fun one!

Katie was born in Bozeman, but hasn’t lived here in quite a while. She graduated from MSU Great Falls Dental Hygiene Program May of 2023. While she started in dental later in life, it has become her passion. Starting as an assistant, she knew she wanted to pursue dental hygiene. She wants everyone to have a good experience at the dentist, to feel at ease and leave happy with a healthy smile. Outside of the office Katie enjoys spending time with her husband, doing CrossFit, hiking, being outdoors, reading and being with friends and family.

Amy is a Montana native who moved to Bozeman in 2006 from Billings. She has been the Office Manager at Bozeman Dental since 2012. Before that she was a dental assistant for 4 years. During her free time she loves to run, hike and walk with her dog, Moose. She enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as traveling.

Jen is originally from Great Falls. She has been with Bozeman Dental since May 2014. She has 2 amazing boys. They enjoy golfing, hiking, and just spending time together as a family.

Sarah is originally from Washington state and moved here in 2012 with her family. She joined the Bozeman Dental family in 2021. She enjoys how much she has learned and is still continually learning while working as an assistant and loves the fact that she gets to help put patients at ease and educate them on bettering their oral health. Outside of the office, she loves spending time with her family and friends and any activity that involves being outside. She loves it here in Montana and plans to stay as long as her family does!

Originally from the east coast, Courtney moved to Bozeman in 2014. With the end goal of being a Dental Hygienist, she joined Bozeman Dental Associates as an assistant in 2022. In her free time, Courtney enjoys getting outdoors, creating artwork and spending time with her little girl
